The Western District Day of Music

The annual Western District Day of Music is just around the corner on...

Saturday, February, 6th 2010!

It's a day to celebrate musicianship alongside your brothers and sisters. If you're having some trouble thinking of things to do, click on the image to download the flyer, or check out the list of ideas below!

• Hand out care packages to your band
• Have a small ensemble play at one of the water stations at a local marathon/walk
• Attend a concert in the park
• Go speak to high schools kids about band/going to college
• Host a reading band for conducting students at your school
• Donate music/instruments to a local school
• Have a music related social Brotherhood/Sisterhood activity: play Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Music Catch Phrase, etc.
• Help Girl Scout/Boy Scouts earn their music badges
• Clean your school’s practice rooms
• Volunteer to help out a local high school’s band rehearsal with marching, sectionals, etc.
• Attend a concert as a chapter
• Help pay for an accompanist for a music major at your school
• Fix/repair/tighten your school’s music stands
• Clean up your band/instrument/uniform room
• Volunteer to help out in the band office
• Help organize your school’s music library
• Help advertise for an upcoming concert in your music department
• Instrumental petting zoo at one of your basketball games for all the kids
• Offer a day of free private music lessons

Now that you have all these great ideas to go on, what are you going to do? Once you've planned your amazing day let us know! Email either your Member-at-Large or your Vice President of Special Projects and let us know what you have planned! Then as the 6th of February rolls around, charge your cameras and document how you celebrated our District Day of Music with pictures and videos and send them into the WD Scrapbook.
